What We Do

We provide direct, practical and enduring support to Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force veterans, their widows and dependents, and retired nurses and disabled individuals. There are no barriers to receiving this support – as long as you meet the eligibility criteria, and are willing to get stuck in and help your community through voluntary work, we will support you.

Our Values

We support veterans, their families, and retired nurses in finding purpose and well-being through community engagement, and aim to extend this support to younger generations from more recent conflicts.

As an Armed Forces charity with over 100 years of experience, we empower those we support—our Remembrance Workers – by involving them in community volunteering that enhances both their well-being and the lives of others.

It all began in 1915, when British soldiers enduring hardship on the front lines of WWI needed urgent support back home.

Help Us Make a Difference

Whether it’s giving your time, making a donation, or simply spreading the word, your support means more veterans, widows, and retired nurses can rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.

Welfare Support

When our volunteers can no longer serve due to age or ill health, we stay by their side. We offer ongoing support, including home visits, birthday acknowledgements, help attending events, and financial assistance—because community doesn’t stop when volunteering does.

Meaningful Volunteering

We match individuals with opportunities at hospitals, hospices, and community centres—places where their skills and kindness can make a real difference. Our Remembrance Workers greet patients, serve in hospital shops, maintain gardens, and offer a listening ear to those who need it most.

Currently, we support more than 40 active volunteers across London, Buckinghamshire, and Essex.

Growing Partnerships

We’re expanding our work to support individuals living with disability or illness. One example of this is our partnership with Level Best in Colchester, where we’re supporting 20 training placements for young disabled adults—equipping them with catering and service skills, boosting confidence, and helping them move into paid work.
Already, this partnership has helped young people grow in confidence and even secure jobs, proving what’s possible when people are given a chance.
